We recently added Project 321 to our assortment of North American made hubs. Their high quality and unique tech like 6-Lock and Magnetic Glide Technology, along with 12 stunning color options made them a no brainer. G3 models are years in the making and the refinement is obvious.

We are excited to show off our first custom wheel build with the G3 platform. We paired this beautiful silver hub set with the Spank Vibrocore 359 rims. Vibrocore rims feature a foam layer within which dampens vibration and provide a smoother ride. As this set is going to be used on a hardtail mountain bike it should help reduce harsh feedback as trails get rougher. They are laced up with premium quality Sapim Race spokes and PolyAx Secure Lock brass nipples to keep everything tight and maintenance to a minimum. Let’s see what makes this set stand out from the rest!

The 6-Lock system allows for the use of both centerlock and 6 Bolt rotor styles without the need to purchase additional parts. If you damage a rotor and need a replacement right away, it gives you the flexibility to use whichever style is easiest to find.

Most pawl system hubs use springs, while Project 321 opted for an alternative method. Magnetic Glide tech uses magnetic pawls which reduce drag and make maintenance a breeze. Another added benefit is less small parts to keep track of. The oversized 72t drive ring with 2 step pawls provide a lightning quick 288 points of engagement. A two piece seal system with an internal light contact rubber paired with a heavier duty external aluminum seal keeps things clean and rolling smooth in the harshest conditions.

Along with these improvements, the hub shells and axles have been overhauled to increase strength and durability. Tall and angled flanges increase stiffness and relieve stress on spokes and nipples by reducing the angle at the j-bend. Pre-load is easy to dial in. A beefy 7075 aluminum axle rides on dual row bearings which have been strategically placed near the driver which is a very common failure point for hubs.
