It seems like not a week goes by where we don't have some update about one or another company's production delays due to Covid-19. It has become a fact of life lately, that companies are backed-up on production for one reason or another, so we're trying to deal with it and provide you with the most up-to-date information we can to help you get the parts you want in the most timely manner possible.
In that vein, today we're here to let you know about Phil Wood's production slowdown, because at the moment, it looks like they could mean significant delays in availability of parts for a while into the future.
Earlier this year Phil Wood was forced to close down production for two and a half months because of the lockdowns around the California at the time. They were able to keep shipping product during that time, but the result is that they have very little left in stock. Now they're back in production (albeit with a smaller crew), but because they only use American-made materials of the highest-quality to make their products, they've been affected by shortages from their suppliers that went through a similar situation, which as you might expect, has further slowed their production process.
The upshot of all of this is that unless we have the part you're looking for in stock, there's a very good chance that we might not be able to get it for a good bit. We understand that "a good bit" is about as vague as anyone could imagine, and we wish we could give a more definite date. For the time being, you can feel free to contact us about a specific part, but prepare to get a vague answer in response. Phil Wood works in production runs, and as parts become available, we will do our best to keep you updated so you know when parts are available again.
We look forward to a time when we won't have to expect extended delays like this, but for the moment, this just seems to be the way it is. Both we and Phil Wood appreciate your continued support, and of course, your patience!
