Wheel Build of the Week: Phil Wood / Praxis

For many riders, an aluminum rim is the best option–whether because of cost considerations–or just because of the way they ride.  Whatever the driver, Praxis' AL32 rims are a pretty sweet option.  With a 32mm inner width, 3mm offset spoke bed, tubeless readiness, and a welded seam all at a very respectable weight, these have what it takes to make a really nice all-around mountain bike rim.

For this build, the customer went with Phil Wood's excellent MTB Disk hubs to round out an already solid build.  Phil Wood's hubs are built around the company's legendary bearings and are designed to be easy-service and durable without sacrificing the beautiful looks for which they've become known.  These hubs do a great job of blending classic high flanges–complete with cutouts–with modern amenities like thru-axles and XDR drivers for a sweet end-product.  One interesting feature of this wheelset, however, is the mixed axle type layout: the front hub uses a thru-axle, and the rear uses a quick release.  As with any custom wheelset, we'll make sure you get the configuration that you need.
