Bling Build: Ibis Hakka MX

Ibis Cycles' Hakka MX is one of a new breed of bikes that are designed with clearance for larger tires (especially with 650B/27.5" wheels and tires), but also make for a very sprightly road bike. 

This one, has two wheelsets, which are pretty much the same build as wheels we offer: the road set is a set of Chris King R45D Centerlock hubs that is laced with Sapim CX-Ray spokes to Astral Cycling's deep Veil 6 rims.  This makes for an impressive all-around road wheelset that will help you slice through the air.  Running 28mm tubeless tires, the bike's ride is fast, smooth, and confidence-inspiring.  Check out this wheelset here.

With the second wheelset, which is built on White Industries CLD hubs using Sapim CX-Ray spokes laced to White Industries' own G25A rims, the bike changes completely.  Rolling on 27.5 x 2.1" tubeless knobbies, the bike is ready to charge the deepest gravel, and frankly, can handle a lot of singletrack too, making it a sweet all-day mixed-terrain adventure bike.  Check out this wheelset here.

Having a bit of a thing for wheels, we're always stoked when we find a bike that makes such good use of a simple wheel change. With wheels having such a huge effect on ride quality anyway, being able to swap them on the same bike and actually make use of those changes without needing to change bikes is a real boon, and we feel like it allows a rider to put their resources into one great bike that can actually play a double role well. Kudos to Ibis and other brands that are making bikes that allow for this!
