Over the years, Enve Composites has become known as the quintessential high-end, boutique, race-bred composite manufacturer, with their rims eliciting longing looks from in-the-know riders everywhere. Similarly, Phil Wood has earned a reputation as a manufacturer of near jewelry-quality bike parts. It seems only fitting that these two brands would be united in one beautiful wheelset.
Phil Wood's Centerlock mountain hubs with their XD driver have been somewhat of a rare beast since their release back in 2018, but like every other Phil Wood product, the attention to detail visible in these hubs is stunning. From the long tapers on the front hub end caps to the Phil Wood centerlock lockrings, these hubs don't overlook no details.
Fresh from the Chris King tech team are these new exploded diagrams of the R45D Rear and Boost Centerlock Front & Rear hubs. Essential if you're looking to upgrade or service your hub and need to know which specific part numbers to buy.
This week's wheel build of the week is another super versatile gravel set up that's equally at home on road or CX.
Astral's Wanderlust Carbon rim is originally designed as a lightweight adventure / gravel rim capable of running up to 2.5" tires. But given their rim profile (23mm internal, 29mm external) they can perform double (or triple) duty as a pure road rim or cyclo-cross race wheelset.
When you think of high end bike components, sustainability is maybe not the first thing that comes to mind. But it's always been a big motivation for us here at AVT as the majority of the brands we sell are manufactured in a pretty sustainable way, just check out this video from Chris King himself explaining the company's commitment to sustainability.
