Schmolke is a brand that many have probably heard of and far fewer have actually experienced.  The company started out manufacturing carbon fiber handlebars over 25 years ago, and it remains a small, boutique carbon manufacturer that makes its products in Germany.

The SL45 rim is classic Schmolke: it's available in a tubeless version, but for those who want to save weight, it's also available in a non-tubeless ready version that weighs 30 grams less.  These rims are somewhat unique in that they are approved for rim or disc brake use, and are built using a special resin that makes them able to withstand very high temperatures (an especially positive attribute for a rim-brake rim).

These wheels are definitely something special, and are a perfect example of the freedom provided by our AVT Works Custom Wheel program: if you want it, chances are that we can get it and build it for you!

SPECS:

  • Front hub: Chris King R45
  • Rear hub: Chris King R45, HG11 driveshell
